“Hybrid Art/Theatre” / “The possibilities of photographic expression”

Creators@Kamogawa is a series of open discussions in which German artists resident at Villa Kamogawa and Japanese creatives share their views on expression, and creating. With simultaneous translation in Japanese and German, starting this year a two-part format has been adopted, making for an even richer learning experience. Guests for this session will be Yanagi Miwa (stage director, artist) and Otake Akiko (writer), with Ozaki Tetsuya serving as moderator. The first half, “Hybrid Art/Theatre,” will explore mutations spawned when artists create theatrical works, while in part 2, on the theme of “the possibilities of photographic expression,” participants will discuss topics such as the influence of technology on photography and its influence on contemporary art. Head down to Cafe Muller afterward for a chat and chance to mingle while chilling out with a German beer. Running on a regular basis, this Kyoto-based series of talks has helped creatives and others meet like-minded people, with records of proceedings also made available to the wider public.
